When we read, we discover new worlds invented by others. When we write, we create our own worlds… universes in which we recover long lost pieces of ourselves: the things we aspire to, all these places we ache to journey to, all that we want to become. We might be inspired by what others have written, but to write our own story is to wander beyond the fringes of our known horizon; it is to set out on an enchanting adventure to bring new worlds into existence.
Writing opens a portal to marvelous realms that would not otherwise have existed had we not thought of writing our thoughts down in the first place. All that we yearn for and cannot find can be made possible through writing. We have a plethora of authors to prove that there is no limit to what can be made alive through words. Verne, Tolkien, Lewis—all invented magnificent realms out of letters and words, to which we escape as children and adults alike.
All of it was created by the grace of human imagination.
